Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I upgrade to a higher-level course (e.g. Gold to Platinum) and receive credit for previous learning modules already completed?

A: Yes, you can receive Credit for previous Learning Modules already completed in lower-level courses.

Q: If I have completed a lower-level course (e.g. Gold), and start a new higher-level course (e.g. Platinum), do I have to pay the full amount for the entire course when there are learning modules I have already completed in the lower-level course?

A: No, if you have completed a lower-level course and intend to start a new higher-level course, then you only have to pay the difference between the higher-level course and the lower-level course.

Q: How long do I have to complete the various courses?

A: You have 12 months to successfully complete any Online Training Course.

Q: Are there any Assessment Tasks to complete?

A: Yes, there is an Assessment Test to do at the end of each Learning Module. Each module has 20 multiple choice questions completed in the online in the eLearning System.

Q: What is the Pass Mark for successfully completing the Assessment Tasks?

A: You need to achieve 100% in the final Assessment Task to Pass and be marked as Competent. You need to achieve a Pass before moving on to the next Learning Module.

Q: What is the difference between Individual and Board enrolments?

A: Courses for Individuals are for individuals to achieve Board Member Accreditation. Courses for Boards, meaning an entire Board with all of its Members, are for Boards to achieve Board Certification, which is a significant achievement for any organisation.

Q: How many Board Members can I enrol in a course for Boards?

A: You can enrol up to 10 Board Members in a course for Boards. Boards with less than 5 Board Members may find it more cost effective to obtain training through the course for Individuals. Boards with less than 5 Board Members can have each Board Member to do the Courses for Individuals. If all Board Members do the Individual Courses, the organisation will still be eligible to receive Board Certification Recognition, to the appropriate standard across the Board. For example, for Board Members doing the Individual Courses and seeking Platinum Board Certification, they will all have to successfully complete the Platinum Course for Individuals.

Q: When completing a course for Boards, in addition to the organisation receiving a Certificate for their Board, will all participating Board Members receive a Certificate also?

A: Yes, in addition to an organisation receiving a Certificate for their Board, all participating Board Members will receive a Certificate of Accreditation.

Q: When enrolling Board Members in a course for Boards, do all Board Members have to complete the course for the Board to be Certified?

A: Yes, in order for a Board to obtain its Certification, all Board Members must complete the course.

Q: Can I purchase course placements to be used in the future and at a later date for my Board’s Induction Process for future Board Members?

A: Yes, you can purchase course placements to be used at a later date.
This is a great way to setup a Board Induction Process for your organisation’s Board. In the future, when you have a new Board Member, simply notify Community Compass with the appropriate details and we will set the new Member up with online access to the training course.

Q: When enrolling Board Members in a course for Boards, do all Board Members have to complete the course at the same time?

A: No, not all of the Board Members have to complete the course at the same time. However, all Board Members must complete the course in order for a Board to obtain its Certification.

Q: I have completed a Community Compass Training Workshop on particular subject (e.g. on the subject of Governance & Legal Duties), can I receive credit for the Learning Module of the same subject matter in an Online Training Course?

A: With all Online Training Courses, you must successfully complete and achieve a Pass / Competent mark in each Learning Module in the Course. So even though one has completed a Community Compass Training Workshop on particular subject, you will only be able to skip the reading of the Learning Module on the same subject. Therefore, you will only be required to complete the final Assessment Task for that Learning Module.
